Saturday 5 April and Sunday 6 April 2025
For one weekend, Open Gardens South Australia and Master Landscapers of SA open the gates to some of our state’s professionally designed and built, privately owned gardens.
The festival features recently completed back and front yards of different sizes and budgets to inspire you to create a completely new garden or simply add stunning elements to your existing backyard.
If you’re a keen home gardener or planning to renovate, this festival will allow you to see some of the latest trends in garden design and discover the benefits of having a professionally designed garden.
Gardens not ordinarily open to the public will open their gates, the designers will be on hand to share their secrets, and visitors can also talk to the garden owners about the experience of creating their dream garden using a designer.
Once again, the festival will be staged with the support of the SA Country Women’s Association, who will staff each garden gate and serve the famous morning teas to visitors.
All profits from the festival go to supporting their city and rural community work.
You can take a lazy afternoon or make a weekend of it. Tickets are $10 per garden or $50 for an all-weekend pass.

Open Gardens SA offer visitors unique access to beautiful private gardens across South Australia.
Throughout each year, garden owners generously volunteer to open the gates to their gardens, giving the community the rare opportunity to enjoy the garden’s beauty, appreciate the owner’s hard work and learn from their experience.
Open Gardens SA is a not-for-profit organisation overseen by a dedicated committee of garden lovers, designers and owners who enjoy sharing the treasures of SA’s varied private gardens and bringing garden lovers together.
Since 2014, our team has assisted each owner with planning and promoting their opening. We provide the support needed to ensure every garden opens safely and successfully.
Some of the proceeds from our garden openings are donated to charities of the garden owners’ choice. Open Gardens SA actively promotes the benefits of gardens and gardening and donates money raised at the garden gate to many horticultural and community projects.
Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors, we have donated $1.5million to charities in the last ten years.
Our mission is to educate and promote the enjoyment, knowledge and benefits of gardens and gardening in South Australia and to build strong public support for their development. With this in mind, Open Gardens SA collaborates with Master Landscapers SA to stage this biannual festival to give keen home gardeners a chance to discover the secrets of landscape garden design from skilled landscape industry professionals who showcase their recent gardens.

The second fabulous SA Landscape Festival was held over the weekend of the 15 and 16 April 2023. Brought to you by Open Gardens SA and Master Landscapers of SA this festival was dedicated to presenting our state’s best landscaped gardens, each created for their owners by design professionals.
All proceeds from the Festival were donated to the SA Country Women’s Association (SACWA), our charity partner for this event. We were delighted hand over a sum of $28,137.92 to the SACWA at a Donation Presentation on the 17 May 2023. The SACWA served tea, coffee, and freshly baked scones at three of the gardens over the festival weekend, providing them with the opportunity to raise additional funds.
Ten stunning South Australian professionally designed gardens opened their gates to welcome visitors, offering a rare chance for the public to learn from garden landscape designers and pick up tips on creating their own perfect back yards. From contemporary courtyards and entertaining areas, to attractive, easy-to-maintain family friendly backyards, there were ideas for every size and style of garden. The gardens were located across Adelaide and the Hills including Brighton South and West Beach, from Medindie to Leabrook and in the Adelaide Hills, at Bridgewater, Oakbank, Hahndorf and Stirling.
The Festival was very successful with an estimated 6,500 visitations with most people visiting multiple gardens. Visitors were able to ask questions and receive valuable advice from the garden designer and / or their representatives explaining their design ideas, offering guidance and information. Not only did the South Australian public support this event, we also had a number of interstate visitors who throughly enjoyed the festival experience.
The feedback received from visitors was wonderful with comments such as:
“Just liked to say a big thank you! Hubby and I have had a wonderful time exploring all the gardens this weekend. So many amazing gardens, plants and ideas. Thank you to all those who worked behind the scenes & the CWA ladies.”
“It’s been a wonderful weekend visiting all of these gardens to admire and appreciate the great work that the landscapers do to showcase their expertise.”
“What wonderful gardens and their gardener’s, such vision and dedication and accomplishment….how very satisfying it is too. Well done to them all.”
“Garden envy big time – simply stunning Open Gardens SA.”
We thank the garden owners, the designers, and the public for their incredible support.
Another wonderful achievement and we are delighted with the result!
In April 2021 the MLSA and Open Gardens SA staged the inaugural SA Landscape Festival, welcoming over 2,500 patrons through the gates of twelve 12 of our states most beautiful and professionally landscaped gardens.
It’s no surprise then that SA Landscape Festival is set to return in 2023!
SA Landscape Festival opens the gates to some of South Australia’s most beautiful professionally designed and constructed gardens and showcases the best of Master Landscapers of SA Members. It’s a celebration of landscape design, construction, and maintenance, that allows visitors to spend time in private gardens, collect ideas, and admire the work of some of our state’s best landscapers.
Both the Master Landscapers of SA and Open Gardens South Australia are incredibly proud to have created and present this uniquely South Australian Festival. Having been postponed in 2020 due to the impacts of COVID-19, the inaugural 2021 SA Landscape Festival supported the outstanding work of the South Australian Country Women’s Association, raising over $22,000. Proceeds from the 2023 Festival will once again be donated to the SA Country Women’s Association, and we thank them for their continued support.
Special thanks must also go to the generosity of our participating garden owners, without whom SA Landscape Festival could not give visitors the rare opportunity to see inside the vast array of privately owned gardens showcasing the exceptional work of our MLSA Landscapers.
Even more visitors are expected in 2023, with the audience being a mixture of landscape industry professionals and keen home gardeners, so if you’re keen to attend purchase your ticket.
